Here you will find information about the Pontifical Mission Societies, their histories and the activities of our diocese to help and promote the many mission programs throughout the world. You will be able to get information as to how you and your family can go on a mission trip or read about how your financial contributions, along with the thousands of others of the Diocese of Arlington, are being used to support the missionary work of the Church. We are all called to be missionaries, not only in far-off places of the world, but right here in our own home, parish, town and workplace.Through the example we set, the witness we give and the conversations in which we participate in our daily lives, we can bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our brothers and sisters in the Lord. St. Francis of Assisi said it best to his followers when he told them, "Go and preach the gospel, and when necessary, use words." Time after time, when I visit missions throughout the world and observe them minister to the sick, dying, elderly, handicapped, mentally challenged and the abandoned, I return home inspired by the work of the Catholic Church. As the Diocesan Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies I am pleased to say that we, as a diocese, are fulfilling Our Lord's command. As you view this web site, may the Holy Spirit fill your heart with a yearning to continue to be a wonderful missionary where you now live, and, maybe one day, somewhere in the missions of the Catholic Church.
